NobleCanni Series: (8) “Noble Communities / Social Media”
Emma Knox
There’s enough social media out there. The world doesn’t need another Instagram or Twitter or Facebook- there are enough sites that offer opportunities for judgement and criticism. What people need is an authentic, safe space where they can be a part of a community. A place without competition, discrimination, and hostility. A place where they can feel safe to share themselves.
People need our Noble Communities. It’s an online community (filled with lots of smaller, specific communities) where you can open up and admit your problems, concerns, feelings, and opinions… and people will care. If you have a Twitter account, you either know somebody or have been the somebody who posts about their bad day, but because of the culture Twitter has created, either nobody believes that post is serious, nobody cares, or both. If you have something earnest to say, and want people to listen and care, our communities are the perfect place. You won’t be ignored, laughed off, or criticized- you’ll be comforted and helped and loved (that’s our culture). And the same goes for people who have questions or concerns- we, or somebody else, will answer you! People won’t scroll past your posts here. THIS is the best avenue for your expression.
We consider our consumers, team, readers, everyone involved with NobleCanni our community… so we say we’re one big community. But we’re also a slew of smaller communities, hence the term “Noble Communities.” Here, we’ve developed (and continue to develop) specific, intimate communities within our larger one for exact issues, concerns, and topics. And we base them off you. Say I watch the news and learn that someone on the other side of the world was blackmailed to dance for tourists in a giraffe costume. The following day, I won’t propose a new community on NobleCanni directed to “people made to dance as giraffes,” because let’s face it: that’ll probably only ever happen the once to the one person (and they may have no interest in joining us anyway). No, we propose and create communities based on what is needed by people, by you, and what deserves a platform to be heard.
We’re built around three big ideas: being noble, being real, and supporting a safe community environment across several categories. NobleCanni will treat you right. We’ll be authentic. We’ll be here for you, athletes, parents, students, artists, academics, and everybody who doesn’t yet know where they fit.
There’s a gap out there, an empty space in the market and in the world for a place like this. For an online community, welcome to everyone, that will protect you and make you feel safe and heard. Twitter doesn’t fill that gap, nor does Facebook, Reddit, or any social media out there… so we’re stepping in. Join the Canni Community. Join one of our many Noble Communities. Be a part of a community that’ll leave you happy, heard, and helped.
